Description

2-Cyano-N-1-naphthylacetamide is a bacteriostatic agent that belongs to the group of salicylaldehyde. It has been shown to have antibacterial activity against Staphylococcus aureus and Salmonella enterica. 2-Cyano-N-1-naphthylacetamide inhibits bacterial growth by binding to the enzyme thiourea, which is an important component in the synthesis of proteins and nucleic acids. This binding prevents the formation of ATP, leading to cell death. 2-Cyano-N-1-naphthylacetamide also has antimicrobial properties due to its ability to inhibit microbial growth by inhibiting the synthesis of DNA and RNA.
