N-[(6-Chloropyridin-3-yl)methyl]methylamine (NCCA) is a chlorinated organic compound that belongs to the group of neonicotinoids. It is used as an insecticide and acaricide. NCCA has been shown to be a potent inhibitor of nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide phosphate (NADPH) oxidase in mammalian cells, which may be due to its ability to dechlorinate at high temperatures. NCCA also inhibits bacterial growth by binding to bacterial DNA gyrase and topoisomerase IV, leading to the inhibition of DNA synthesis and protein synthesis. This drug also hydrolyzes at high temperatures and can cause damage to cells by the release of reactive oxygen species.
