Description

Acetaminophen is a pain-relieving medication which also reduces fever. It belongs to the class of drugs known as analgesics, antipyretics and anti-inflammatory agents. Acetaminophen is used in many over-the-counter products for headaches, muscle aches, arthritis, colds and fevers. Acetaminophen relieves pain by blocking the production of prostaglandins. Acetaminophen has been shown to inhibit the growth of bacteria that are resistant to antibiotics, such as methicillin resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA). These bacteria are thought to be responsible for many skin infections.
