• Description: 2-Chloro-N,N-diphenylacetamide is a functional theory that has been shown to have antimicrobial activity against mammalian cells. It is an acetamide derivative with a formyl group and two chloro substituents. 2-Chloro-N,N-diphenylacetamide inhibits the growth of Mycobacterium tuberculosis by binding to the ribosomal protein P0, which inhibits the production of proteins vital for cell division. This drug also has antifungal properties, inhibiting the synthesis of ergosterol in filamentous fungi such as Candida albicans.2-Chloro-N,N-diphenylacetamide is also known to inhibit the growth of other bacteria by binding to their ribosomes and interfering with protein synthesis. This drug may also be active against viruses due to its ability to bind chloride ions.
