4'-Chloro-2,2';6',2''-terpyridine is a centrosymmetric molecule with a single-crystal x-ray diffraction pattern. The molecule has a carbonyl group and two terpyridine ligands. It is coordinated to a ruthenium atom via the carbonyl oxygen atoms. The crystal structure of 4'-chloro-2,2';6',2''-terpyridine was determined by single-crystal x-ray diffraction from a single crystal of this compound in the space group P21/c. The results show that the molecule has a conformation that is consistent with other carbonyl complexes, and the cation is coordinated to the ligands through its sphere.
