Description

Cyclopenta[b]pyridin-7(6H)-one is a square, unidentate ligand that binds in a square planar fashion to metal ions. It has the molecular structure of a cyclopentane ring with two amine groups and one methyl group. Cyclopenta[b]pyridin-7(6H)-one is an isomer of norbornadiene, which has the molecular structure of a cyclopentane ring with two amine groups and one methyl group. The reaction rate for this compound depends on the nature of the substituents on the carbon atoms and the presence or absence of any other substituents. For example, when there are no substituents on either carbon atom, this compound reacts at a rate of 1 per second; however, when there are two methyl groups on each carbon atom, the reaction rate is 10 per second. This molecule can be found in nature and isomers have been detected
