Description :
5-Chlorothiophene-3-carboxylic acid is a chemical reagent that is used in organic synthesis. It is soluble in organic solvents such as methyl tert-butyl ether, and can be layered with sulfuryl chloride to form a mixture that has a high boiling point. The reaction solution can be recrystallized from tert-butyl ether to produce the compound in pure form. This chemical reacts with sulfuryl chloride to produce 5-chlorothiophene-3-sulfonyl chloride, which can then be reacted with an amine to produce 5-chlorothiophene-3-amine.
