Chromium(II)fluoride is a chemical compound with the formula CrF. It is an ionic solid that can be prepared by reaction of chromium metal with fluorine or by direct combination of the elements. The compound has a melting point of 1730 °C and a density of 5.9 g/cm3. It occurs as green crystals, which are soluble in water, alcohols, and ethers. Chromium(II)fluoride has been used extensively as a reagent in organic synthesis and more recently as a catalyst for polymerization reactions.
