6-Chloro-4-hydroxyquinoline is a drug made from trimethyl and hydrocortisone acetate. It is used as an antibacterial agent, which may be effective against bacteria that produce nitrofurazone, such as Escherichia coli and Klebsiella pneumoniae. 6-Chloro-4-hydroxyquinoline is also used to treat inflammation of the skin caused by bacterial infection, such as furunculosis or erysipelas. This drug can be used to treat bacterial infections of the eye, ear, nose, throat, urinary tract and vagina. The reaction product of 6-chloro-4-hydroxyquinoline is formed by the reaction with anhydrous potassium carbonate and chloro. It is a white crystalline solid with a melting point of 188°C.
