- 5-Thiazolecarboxylic Acid, 2-Chloro-4-Methyl-
2-Chloro-4-methyl-thiazole-5-carboxylicacid is an organic compound that belongs to the chemical class of thiazolecarboxylic acid. It is a reactive molecule containing two amine groups, one five-membered ring, and one chloride group. 2-Chloro-4-methylthiazole has been used as a horticultural fungicide in agriculture. It reacts with diazonium salts to produce a diazo compound that reacts further with sulphonic acid to form a sulphonate ester. This reaction product is then hydrolyzed by the cytochrome P450 enzyme system in plants, causing cellular death.
