2-Chloro-6-hydrazinopyrazine is a methoxy compound that has been commercialized. It is used as an insecticide and pesticide. The molecular target of this chemical is the calcium channel, which it inhibits by binding to its receptor site. 2-Chloro-6-hydrazinopyrazine has shown high activity against insects, such as mosquitoes and ticks, and also has a high toxicity to mammals. It is also effective against ryanodine receptors on the surface of cells in the heart, leading to cardiac arrest. This chemical can be used in combination with chlorantraniliprole for insect control.
