This reaction also produces functional groups such as glycol ethers and decarboxylated chlorides. The chloride atoms on 2C6HBA are capable of reacting with amines to form amides and demethylation reactions with alcohols produce 2,6-dihydroxybenzoic acid. 2C6HBA can biodegrade in soil or water due to its chemical properties and has been found to be non-toxic to animals.
