The termination of the polymerization reaction was found to be due to the formation of dialkylaminoalkyl monomers, which react with the growing polymer chain to form a new polymer molecule. Thermally induced homopolymerization reactions are also possible, where 1-cyclohexyl-1H-pyrrole is heated at 60°C in tetrahydrofuran (THF) until it reaches a maximum conversion of 100%.
