Description :
3-(4-Chlorophenyl)isoxazole (3c) is a sterically bulky isoxazole that can be applied as a reagent in organic synthesis. 3c has been shown to have significant steric effects and can be used in the stereoselective synthesis of benzyne, which is necessary for the oxidation of alkenes. The fragmentation of 3c has been shown to be oxidant-dependent and can be used to functionalize substituted anions. 3c also dimerizes with aryl groups and undergoes annulation reactions, which allows for the preparation of anion derivatives. 3c reacts with anions to form new compounds, such as those containing aryl groups. These reactions are largely oxidative in nature.
