(R)-1-(4-Chlorophenyl)ethylamine is an organic compound that belongs to the class of amines. It can be synthesized from hydrogen chloride and (S)-2-bromo-2-chloropropane in a reaction that is stereoselective. The synthesis of this compound is optimized by adjusting the substrate concentration and adding surfactants as a catalyst. The reaction rate was found to increase with increasing concentrations of imines, which may be due to their ability to act as hydrogen bond donors or acceptors. The same effect was observed when introducing chloride ions.
