Description

1-Chloro-3-methyl-2-butene is a chemical compound that belongs to the group of carbonyl compounds. It can be synthesized by reacting formaldehyde and acetylene in the presence of an acid catalyst. 1-Chloro-3-methyl-2-butene has been shown to have antiinflammatory properties. It inhibits the production of prostaglandins, which are involved in inflammatory reactions. This drug is also used as a catalyst for organic synthesis reactions and as a reagent in organic chemistry. The chloride salt is used as a solvent for various organic compounds and as a reactant in organic synthesis reactions. 1-Chloro-3-methyl -2 butene has been shown to inhibit the growth of hepatitis C virus (HCV).
