Description

Cryptotanshinone is a natural compound that is extracted from the root of Tansy (Tanacetum cinerariifolium) and has been shown to have antitumor effects in vitro. It inhibits the expression of proinflammatory genes, such as toll-like receptor-4 and nuclear factor-kappa B, which are involved in tumorigenesis. Cryptotanshinone also induces immunosuppression by inhibiting p-glycoprotein function, which results in increased apoptosis and cell death. Cryptotanshinone has significant cytotoxicity against squamous cell carcinoma cells.
