2-Cyanoacetic anhydride is a synthetic, activated compound with the chemical formula C2H3NO2. It is an intermediate of the reaction that produces fluorophosphates. 2-Cyanoacetic anhydride is used as a solvent in organic synthesis and has been shown to react with ethyl groups to produce ring structures and reaction products. The amide functional group can also be formed by reacting 2-cyanoacetic acid anhydride with ammonia or amines. This product contains fluorine, which makes it reactive and difficult to store without protection from moisture.
