• Description: Cyclo(leucyloprolyl) is a fatty acid that belongs to the group of antimicrobial agents. It is also known as cycloleucin or leucoprolide, and has been shown to be active against a wide range of bacteria, including type strain Acinetobacter calcoaceticus. Preparative high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) has been used to isolate cycloleucin from an acetate extract of the fungus Penicillium citrinum. Cycloleucin has been shown in vitro to inhibit the growth of oral pathogens such as Streptococcus mutans and Staphylococcus aureus. In addition, cycloleucin has exhibited anticancer activity against human cancer cell lines and has been shown to have an effect on lipid metabolism by inhibiting the synthesis of triacylglycerol.
