Description :3-Carboxy-2,3-dideoxy-1-hydroxypropan-1,2,3-tricarboxylic acid is an intermediate in the citric acid cycle. It is a reagent that can be used to measure enzyme activities of isocitrate dehydrogenase. 3-Carboxy-2,3-dideoxy-1-hydroxypropan-1,2,3-tricarboxylic acid has been shown to have a hypoglycemic effect in rats. The mechanism of this effect is not fully understood but may involve the inhibition of enzymes such as phosphoglucose isomerase and glyceraldehyde 3 phosphate dehydrogenase.
