(1S)-(+)-10-Camphorsulfonamide is a chiral molecule that can be used as an intermediate in the synthetic process of camphor. It has been shown to be effective against viruses and bacteria, such as influenza virus and Escherichia coli. (1S)-(+)-10-Camphorsulfonamide is also a glyceric compound with a molecular weight of 172.2 g/mol and is soluble in organic solvents. The synthesis of (1S)-(+)-10-camphorsulfonamide has been achieved by the reaction of aziridine with chloride in the presence of copper complex at room temperature. This reaction was found to be exothermic, producing a dipole stabilized molecule with an enthalpy change of -27.8 kJ/mol.
