2-Chloro-2'-phenylacetanilide is an inhibitor of γ-secretase, which is a protein that cleaves amyloid precursor protein (APP) to generate amyloid beta peptides. The 2-chloro group in the molecule is responsible for inhibiting the activity of γ-secretase. This compound has shown efficacy in animal studies and has been used in Australia to treat Alzheimer's disease.
