6-Chloro-D,L-tryptophan is a chemical intermediate that is used in the production of pharmaceuticals. It is a precursor to the amino acid tryptophan and has been shown to inhibit protein synthesis in human macrophages and microglia cells. In addition, this compound has been shown to inhibit the uptake of tryptophan by human macrophages and thp-1 cells.
