It is a white crystalline powder that is soluble in methanol and acetonitrile. 3-(2-Chloroethyl)-2-methyl-6,7,8,9-tetrahydro-4H-pyrido[1,2-a]pyrimidin-4 - one binds to the ribosome and interferes with protein synthesis by inhibiting the release of aminoacyl tRNA from the ribosome.
