Description

3-(2-Chlorophenyl)-5-methylisoxazole-4-carbonyl chloride is a subtilisin inhibitor that has been shown to inhibit the growth of Staphylococcus aureus. Inhibition of the enzyme results in decreased production of heterocyclic amines, which are associated with various cancers. 3-(2-Chlorophenyl)-5-methylisoxazole-4-carbonyl chloride is active against a wide range of Gram positive and Gram negative bacteria. It is also active against Mycobacterium tuberculosis, but not against Mycobacterium avium complex. The pharmacokinetics of 3-(2-Chlorophenyl)-5-methylisoxazole-4-carbonyl chloride have been studied in rats and dogs, which showed that it was rapidly absorbed after oral administration and eliminated mainly through the kidneys.
