- Cyanamide, (4-chlorophenyl)-
- (4-Chlorophenyl)cyanamide
4-Chlorophenylcyanamide is an amido-phenylurea compound. It has been used as a catalyst in the synthesis of L-citrulline from ammonia and carbamoyl phosphate, and has also been used to produce hydrogen peroxide by catalysis. The compound has been shown to stimulate host responses to bacterial infection, such as the production of cytokines and chemokines. Furthermore, 4-chlorophenylcyanamide has been shown to be a ligand for the receptor of hydrogen peroxide. This means that it binds with hydrogen peroxide and its signalling pathways are activated. In addition, 4-chlorophenylcyanamide has been shown to have diffraction properties at room temperature in which its structure can be determined experimentally.
