Description

Cinchonidine is a reaction solution that contains tiglic acid and cinchonidine. Cinchonidine is a natural compound that has been shown to have antibiotic properties, which may be due to its ability to inhibit the synthesis of bacterial cell walls. Cinchonidine has been shown to have a high binding affinity for tetracycline-resistant bacteria and is used in the control of these organisms. The mechanism of this drug's action is not well understood, but it may involve steric interactions with the ribosomal RNA or hydrogen bonding interactions with various molecules. It was also found that cinchonidine reacts with x-ray diffraction data from tetracycline resistance.
