• Description: Cocaine hydrochloride is a natural compound obtained from the leaves of the coca plant. Cocaine hydrochloride is a stimulant drug that affects the central nervous system and increases blood pressure, heart rate, and body temperature. Cocaine hydrochloride also has been found to have bowel disease-related physiological effects in humans. Cocaine hydrochloride's mechanism of action is not fully understood but it may be related to its ability to bind to the dopamine transporter protein in nerve cells and inhibit dopamine reuptake. Cocaine hydrochloride can also act as an antimicrobial agent by inhibiting bacterial growth by blocking ribosomal RNA synthesis.
