Description :
3-Cyclopropyl-3-oxopropanoic acid methyl ester is a chloroacetone that has been shown to cause liver disease. This compound is an inhibitor of primary amine oxidase and may be used as a potential therapeutic agent for cholestatic liver diseases. 3-Cyclopropyl-3-oxopropanoic acid methyl ester was synthesized in a stereoselective manner by using an asymmetric synthesis protocol and molecular docking analysis to identify the interaction between this molecule and proteins involved in the biotransformation of primary amines. The inhibitory effect of 3-cyclopropyl-3-oxopropanoic acid methyl ester on rat liver microsomes was also evaluated, suggesting that it may have a nontraditional role in treating nonalcoholic steatohepatitis.
