Description :2-(3-Chloropropyl)-1,3-dioxolane is an acidic compound that belongs to the class of diacids. It is a hydrochloric acid derivative that has been shown to have stereoselective effects on human lung adenomas. This compound inhibits the production of protein and RNA, which may lead to cell death by apoptosis or necrosis. 2-(3-Chloropropyl)-1,3-dioxolane also has oxidation products in acidic environments. These products are known for their bladder and diacid properties, which are thought to be the cause of its carcinogenic effect. This substance can also be converted into sulfoxide or phosphonium salt derivatives in vivo, which are responsible for its metabolic effects. 2-(3-Chloropropyl)-1,3-dioxolane also displays conjugation with enzymes such as glutathione S-transferase and UDP glucuronosyl transferases
