Description :
5-Chloro-2-formylbenzoic acid is a synthetic chemical compound that is used as a precursor in the production of polyphosphoric acid. It is also used as a sedative and hypnotic drug, which is produced by reacting benzylpiperazine with an alcohol group chloride. The reaction product is then hydrolyzed to produce 5-chloro-2-formylbenzoic acid. This compound can be further reacted with an ammonium salt or heptadiene to produce other chemicals such as quaternary ammonium salts.
