2-Chloropyrimidine-4-carboxylic acid is a halogenated amino acid derivative. It inhibits the growth of microorganisms by causing DNA damage and has been used as an antimicrobial agent in microbiological studies. 2-Chloropyrimidine-4-carboxylic acid has been shown to inhibit the growth of bacteria that are resistant to other antibiotics, such as methicillin or erythromycin.
