Pazopanib is a pyrazole-based compound that inhibits the growth of cancer cells. Pazopanib is a new drug used in the treatment of advanced renal cell carcinoma and soft tissue sarcoma. It has been shown to have pesticidal activity against insects, such as the mosquito Culex quinquefasciatus. Pazopanib binds to the benzene ring at position 3 and an amino group at position 4 in the pyrazole ring system. The triazole ring at position 5 is attached through a methylene bridge to two chlorine atoms, which are positioned ortho to each other on the phenyl ring. The exocyclic N-H bond of pazopanib forms hydrogen bonds with one or more water molecules. This leads to dimers and dihedral rotational conformations (i.e., protonated amines) for pazopanib, which are stabilized by intramolecular hydrogen
