3-Chloro-4-fluorobenzonitrile is a potent inhibitor of the M1 receptor. It has been shown to have significant inhibitory activity against toxoplasma, which is an intracellular parasite that can cause encephalitis in humans and animals. The compound also inhibits the catalytic rate of the M1 receptor, thereby slowing down the rate of 5-HT synthesis. 3-Chloro-4-fluorobenzonitrile binds to the 5-HT7 receptor and inhibits its function by binding to its molecular site on the outside of the cell membrane. This binding prevents activation of G proteins, leading to a decrease in cellular response.
