4-Chloro-1-nitro-2-(trifluoromethyl)benzene is a synthetic compound that has been used in the preparation of other compounds. It can be found as a reaction product from the synthesis of chlorodifluoromethane. 4-Chloro-1-nitro-2-(trifluoromethyl)benzene can also be prepared by reacting chlorine with hydroxyl groups present on an organic molecule. The presence of a hydroxyl group on an organic molecule makes it susceptible to attack by chlorine and other halogens. The 4-chloro-1, 2-(trifluoromethyl)benzene isomeric mixture can be separated using techniques such as gas chromatography and infrared spectroscopy. This chemical's fluorescence properties are quaternary ammonium compounds and its nmr spectra are dependent on temperature and benzotrifluoride.
