Cefpodoxime proxetil is a drug metabolite that results from the hydrolysis of cefpodoxime by esterases or glucuronidases, oxidation by cytochrome P450 enzymes, reduction by glutathione reductase, or conjugation with glucuronic acid. 1-Chloroethyl chloroformate can also be used to synthesize fluorinated benzimidazoles such as trifluoroacetic acid from its precursor, trifluoroacetic anhydride.
