3-Chlorobenzoyl chloride is an organic compound that is used in the preparation of fatty acids. It has been shown to be effective in the treatment of inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). 3-Chlorobenzoyl chloride inhibits polymerase chain reaction by competitively binding to the polymerase enzyme, thereby inhibiting DNA synthesis. This compound also has a high affinity for chloride ions and can be used in the treatment of bowel disease. The light emission from 3-chlorobenzoyl chloride is dependent on the structure of the acylating agent, which may be either an acid or a base. Acetylation reactions are catalyzed by light and require a catalyst such as dibutyltin oxide or hydrochloric acid for initiation. Women who have IBD should avoid exposure to this chemical due to its carcinogenic properties.
