Description

Chlorophyll a is a chlorophyll molecule that absorbs light at the red and near-infrared wavelengths. It has been used as a fluorescent probe for kinetic energy measurements and as a model system to study the mechanism of photosynthesis. Chlorophyll a also has an important role in plant metabolism, as it is involved in many transfer reactions. High values of chlorophyll a have been found in the leaves of plants grown under low light conditions.
