Description

N-Cbz-Piperidine-4-carboxylic acid is an inhibitor of PARP, which is a DNA repair enzyme that is activated by DNA double strand breaks. It blocks the activity of PARP, thus inhibiting cell proliferation and inducing apoptosis. This compound has been shown to be potent in inhibiting PARP with IC50 values of less than 1 μM in cell-free assays. The IC50 values are also reported to be low in cellular assays. N-Cbz-Piperidine-4-carboxylic acid has been found to inhibit chemotaxis in a dose dependent manner, and is able to block the effect of natural substrates such as carboxamide or active site residues. These results show that this compound may be used for the treatment of cancer cells.
