2-Chloro-4-methylpyridine (2CMP) is a chemical compound that has been shown to be a potent anticancer agent in cell culture and animal studies. 2CMP is an ancillary ligand for the tyrosine kinase receptor, which plays a key role in cancer development. 2CMP was shown to inhibit the growth of human prostate cancer cells with an IC50 value of 0.8 mM, making it one of the most potent anticancer agents identified so far. The hypsochromic effect observed in 2CMP may provide insight into how this compound functions by altering the DNA structure and preventing transcription and replication processes from occurring.
