-beta-Cyclopentyl-D-alanine is an inorganic acid that inhibits platelet aggregation and is used as a coagulant. The molecular weight of the compound is 180. -beta-Cyclopentyl-D-alanine has been shown to inhibit platelet aggregation by inhibiting the release of calcium ions from intracellular stores. It also inhibits platelet aggregation induced by l-arginine, which is an amino acid that promotes platelet aggregation. The mechanism of action for this compound may be due to its ability to form acyl radicals, which are reactive molecules with unpaired electrons on a carbon atom. This molecule contains a piperidine radical and an alkyl group that make it susceptible to oxidation by free radicals such as aldehydes and ketones.
