Description

Calcium acetate is a chemical compound that has two forms, calcium acetate and calcium acetate monohydrate. Calcium acetate monohydrate has the molecular formula CaCO3·HO. It is a white crystalline powder that is soluble in water and alcohols. Calcium acetate monohydrate can be used as a reaction solution for the synthesis of ethylene diamine and zirconium oxide. This compound also has been studied extensively for its biological properties. One such property is its ability to induce bone formation by stimulating osteoblasts, which are cells that produce new bone tissue. Another property of this compound is its ability to stimulate the growth of hydroxyapatite crystals on the surface of titanium implants. The surface methodology used to study this property includes particle size analysis, scanning electron microscopy (SEM), and X-ray diffraction (XRD).
