2-Chloro-N-(4-methylphenyl)acetamide is a reactive avicide that has been shown to have potential use as a pest control agent. This molecule is toxic to animals and humans, but the toxicity may be reduced when it is metabolized by the body. 2-Chloro-N-(4-methylphenyl)acetamide binds to DNA and RNA in cells, which inhibits protein synthesis and cell division. Although 2-chloro-N-(4-methylphenyl)acetamide has not been extensively studied for long term effects, it has been shown to affect biochemical parameters such as chloride levels, which could cause kidney damage.
