Description

Cholesterol Hexyl Carbonate (C6HC) is a chiral organic compound with a unique conformation that enhances its adsorbing properties. C6HC is synthesized by reacting cholesterol with hexanoyl chloride in the presence of strong base and an inert solvent. The structural formula of this compound is shown in Figure 1.

The C6HC molecule consists of a rigid planar structure that is stabilized by a dihedral angle, which can be optimized to produce particles with conformations suitable for specific applications. These conformations include spherical, ellipsoidal, rod-like, and lamellar structures. The solubility of C6HC in organic solvents such as chloroform or dichloromethane makes it possible to use these compounds as drying agents for coatings or adhesive films.
