Description

Catechol hydroxyethyl ether is a synthetic compound that has been used in toxicity studies. It is an acidic, white crystalline solid with a molecular weight of 166.22 g/mol. Catechol hydroxyethyl ether contains three asymmetric carbon atoms and four stereogenic centers, composed of two chiral molecules and two diastereomers. The chemical reactions of catechol hydroxyethyl ether are associated with the hydroxyl group and the catechol ring. Catechol hydroxyethyl ether has been shown to exhibit a potent potassium ion-binding ability, as well as an inhibitory effect on sodium nitrate reduction. In addition, this compound exhibits strong x-ray crystal structures for various types of crystals such as orthorhombic, monoclinic, triclinic and hexagonal crystals under different conditions.
