3-(Chloromethyl)-1H-1,2,4-triazol-5(4H)-one is a synthetic organic compound that is used as a reagent in organic synthesis. It can be prepared by the reaction of hydrochloric acid and chloromethyl methyl ether with sodium hydroxide. 3-(Chloromethyl)-1H-1,2,4-triazol-5(4H)-one is used in the industrial production of aprepitant, a drug for the prevention and treatment of nausea and vomiting caused by cancer drugs. The pharmacological activity of 3-(Chloromethyl)-1H-1,2,4-triazol-5(4H)-one has been studied extensively.
