Description

5-(CHLOROMETHYL)-3-METHYLISOXAZOLE is a reagent that is used to synthesize aldoximes. The compound reacts with methanol and potassium carbonate in the presence of an acid such as hydrochloric acid to produce an aldoxime and methanal. 5-(CHLOROMETHYL)-3-METHYLISOXAZOLE can be used to synthesize aliphatic, aromatic, or heterocyclic aldoximes. It has been shown that this reagent can also be used for the synthesis of amines, benzaldehydes, diamines, or other compounds containing nitrogen.
