Description :
2-Chloro-5-(trifluoromethyl)pyrazine is a by-product of the synthesis of 2,4,6-trichloropyrimidine. It can be synthesized in high yield by reacting anhydrous hydrogen fluoride and sulfur with chloroform in the presence of fluorine at a temperature below 0°C.
