Description :
1-Chloro-2,2-dimethylpropane is a chlorinated hydrocarbon. It is used as a solid catalyst in the production of polyolefins and other organic compounds. The reaction mechanism for 1-chloro-2,2-dimethylpropane is nucleophilic substitution with chloride as the nucleophile. This process yields carbocations that can then undergo metathesis reactions with neopentyl halides to produce olefins.
