Description

5-Chloro-3-methylbenzo[b]thiophene is a chemical compound that is used as an intermediate in the production of other chemicals. It has been shown to be catalytic in oxidation reactions, with a reaction rate of 10,000 times faster than the uncatalyzed reaction. 5-Chloro-3-methylbenzo[b]thiophene also selectively oxidizes one electron at a time, which leads to high selectivity in an oxidation process. The active substance is activated by light or heat and catalyses the transformation of aromatic compounds into benzoic acid derivatives. 5-Chloro-3-methylbenzo[b]thiophene is an enzyme catalyst that accelerates the conversion of phenols to benzoic acid derivatives, such as salicylic acid, which are used in pharmaceuticals and industrial products.
